Who are we?

The tissue bank Gewebebank Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (GBM-V gGmbH) is a non-profit company, founded in Rostock in July, 2015. It pursues exclusively and directly for non-profit purposes and is active in the non-commercial field of tissue medicine.

Since  August 8, 2016 GBM-V is holding the authorization according to Section 20c German Drug Law - “Authorisation for the processing, preservation, testing and storage or the placing on the market of tissues or preparations made from tissues” for ocular tissue  granted by the local competent authority (Landesamt für Gesundheit und Soziales Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). On May 8, 2017 this authorization was extended by cardiovascular tissue (heart valves and vessels).

This makes the GBM-V the first multi-tissue bank of its kind and the only bank for cardiovascular tissue (production of heart valves and vessels) in the federal state Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

"Our success is the restoration of the health of patients waiting for a transplant."

This is the standard of our actions. The medical management and its interdisciplinary team can rely on individually competences acquired through years of professional experience in the field manufacturing of tissue preparations regulated by the German Drug Law as well as on fresh impulses by young, qualified employees.

GBM-V is currently producing tissue preparations from corneae, heart valves and vessels using conventional classical methods.

In the  future GBM-V will establish primarily new innovative and future-oriented technologies in the production of transplants like corneae, cardiovascular tissue (heart valves and vessels) and of dermis, which are at present state top of the world.
